SYMBEEOSIS
2023
18 MINUTES
Bees are among the most important animals on Earth, quietly sustaining ecosystems and helping produce much of the food that fills our grocery stores and kitchens. Yet across North America, thousands of native bee species are in decline, threatening the delicate relationships that connect plants, pollinators, and people. In SymBeeOsis, scientists investigate a hidden world living within bees themselves: microscopic communities of bacteria and other organisms that may play a crucial role in their survival. As researchers race to understand the causes behind widespread pollinator losses, the film uncovers a surprising new frontier in bee conservation, revealing how answers to one of the most urgent ecological challenges of our time may be found in a world too small to see with the naked eye.
